War and Garlic

I think it is wonderful that we can all feel so safe since Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney, Mr. Rumsfeld, and Ms. Rice have told the nation, time and again, that the proof of their “War on Terror” is working is the fact that there has not been an attack on the US since 9/11, five years ago. Fantastic.

By the same token, my family and I feel safe from vampires since I put garlic cloves around our house. No vampire attack proves it’s working. Fantastic.

Ridiculous comparison? Not really. Both statements are idiotic and have no basis in fact.

Tell the 2,600 (and over) service men and women who lost their lives in Iraq fighting the “Bush War,” and their families, that they are safer. Tell the thousands and thousands of American casualties who are damaged for life that they are safer. And tell the 130,000 (plus) American service people who are stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan (where we never finished the job and rushed to Iraq,) that they should feel safer.

Maybe I should send some garlic to them.
