Arizona Idiocy Spreads East to Alabama

It looks like a candidate for governor in Alabama is jealous of the stupidity in Arizona. The following appeared in online news today:

Amid a national debate over Arizona's tough new immigration law, Republican Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tim James (and son of previous Gov. Fob James) vows in a new campaign ad that if he's elected, he'll give the state driver's license exam only in English, as a cost-saving measure. "This is Alabama; we speak English," he says in the ad. "If you want to live here, learn it."

I sure am thankful that the native American Indian tribes didn’t force us to learn their language or make us go back to where we all came from.

Berlin, Arizona

Welcome to Berlin, Arizona. Or at least it seems so.

Arizona’s new immigration law allows police to ask anyone who they “suspect” might be in this country illegally to show proof of being in this country legally. The last country on record to allow police to stop individuals and show their “papers” was Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. Is the next step for Arizona to emulate that Fascist government to require immigrants to wear armbands showing their lowly status?

Has Arizona sunk so low with fear that they will stop and question not only legal immigrants and native born Americans? Who will be next? Any minority could be a target for hatred and bigotry such as this. Are we going to tear up the protections of our Constitution that outlaw unjustified search and seizure? And we better be careful of the nut cases running around with open carry permits who will take it upon themselves to enforce this terrible law.

The Supreme Court must slap this law down or we will have to rename Phoenix to its adopted name of Berlin.
